Dress Code and Uniform Guidelines

Our desire at Church of the Redeemer Christian School is to do all things in a way that is pleasing to the Lord and in a manner which will honor Him and uphold our Christian testimony. While recognizing that true Christianity is a matter of the heart and not the outward appearance, it is nonetheless true that our appearance is important. Our clothing should represent our desire to please God and honor Him. School uniforms have been chosen to assist parents in this process.

We depend on parents to work with the school in maintaining these standards by checking their children before leaving for school, making sure they are dressed and groomed properly. It is understood that enrollment in our school means a pledge on the part of both parents and students to abide by these policies.

Students may receive a Uniform Violation Notice and parents may be notified if they are not in compliance with the uniform guidelines. Continued dress code violations may indicate an unwillingness to comply and may result disciplinary action.

  • Carefully read the list of Uniform Items detailing the uniform requirements.
  • There are specific uniform items which must be purchased from the designated uniform company, Flynn O'Hara and require the school logo. See the uniform items list for details.
  • Without exception, athletic shoes must be solid black or solid white. There can be no logo or color on them at all. Boys and girls may wear black or white.
  • Shoes: Students must wear solid colored shoes: black, white, navy blue, or brown. The soles (bottom of the shoes) should only be black, white, or gum color. Due to safety purposes, students must not wear shoes that easily come off during walk or play; they should have laces or Velcro closures. No open toe. No open heels. No boots. No high tops. Low, white Keds are acceptable. Heels must be no higher than 1 inch. Athletic shoes must be worn for PE class. The school reserves the right to determine if a student's shoes are acceptable or not.
  • Shorts and jumpers, and kilts must be no shorter than 3" above the knee.
  • All socks must be above the ankles.
  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
  • Belts must be worn with shorts and pants.
  • Only plain white tee shirts should be worn under the uniform (no colors or words).
  • Boys may not wear earrings.
  • No hats or hoods are to be worn in the building.
  • Hairstyles must be neat. No unusual hair colors or styles that are deemed faddish are allowed. Boy's hair must be trimmed above the ears and shirt collar and may not hang down over the eyebrows.
  • All uniforms must be clean, neat and free of stains and tears. Worn out or torn clothing items must be replaced. Students may not poke thumb holes in the cuffs of their shirts, sweatshirts, or sweaters.
  • Children go outdoors for recess as much as possible, even on cold days. Please dress them appropriately.
  • Only MS students may wear sweatshirts during school hours. Uniform shirts must be worn underneath.
  • Elementary students may only wear their school uniform sweaters in the classroom for warmth.
  • Label all uniform items, sweaters, and sweatshirts, as they may end up in lost and found.

Uniform Items - Elementary

Boys

  • Mandatory: White polo shirt, long sleeve or short sleeve. Logo required. Purchase from Flynn O'Hara.
  • Long or short sleeved polo shirts, light blue. May be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.
  • Uniform-style navy blue pants or navy blue shorts. May be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.
  • PANTS MUST BE UNIFORM-STYLE PANTS. NO CARGO PANTS. NO DENIM. NO SKINNY PANTS. NO LOW-RIDERS. NO BELL-BOTTOMS.
  • Navy V-neck cardigan or sweater. Logo required. Purchased from Flynn O'Hara. Note: Only the school sweater may be worn in the classroom for warmth.
  • Black, brown or navy blue belt - Required with pants or shorts.
  • Crew socks, in black, white, navy, or brown. Must be above ankles.

Girls

  • Mandatory: White polo shirt, long sleeve or short sleeve. Logo required. Purchase from Flynn O'Hara.
  • Long or short sleeved polo shirts, light blue. May be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.

  • Uniform-style navy blue shorts or uniform-style navy blue pants worn with:
    • White polo shirt, short or long sleeves.
    • White or red turtleneck.
  • Polo shirts or turtlenecks may be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.
  • Old style uniform plaid shorts may still be worn.
  • Plaid jumper. (Purchased from Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.) worn with:
    • Peter Pan knit shirt, white short or long sleeve.
    • Long sleeve or white or red turtleneck. Shirts may be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.
  • Navy V-neck cardigan or sweater. Logo required. Purchase from Flynn O'Hara. Note: Only the school sweater may be worn in the classroom for warmth.
  • Black, brown, navy blue or plaid belt. - Required with pants or shorts.

P.E. Class

There is no separate uniform for P.E. for elementary students. The only rule is that girls must wear their uniform shorts or pants on P.E. days. All other uniform guidelines remain the same.

  • Athletic shoes must be worn for P.E. class and must be securely fastened.
  • Elementary student wear their uniforms for P.E. class.
  • If girls wear jumpers they must wear a pair of shorts underneath.

Boys

  • Mandatory: Navy blue polo shirt, long sleeve or short sleeve. Logo required. Purchased from Flynn O'Hara.
  • Uniform-style Khaki pants or shorts. May be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.

  • Long or short sleeved polo shirts, white or red. May be purchased from a department store or Flynn O'Hara. Logo optional.
  • CORCS sweatshirt purchased from the school. Note: Only the school sweatshirt may be worn in the classroom for warmth.
  • Black, brown, or navy blue belt - Required with pants and shorts.
  • Brown or black crew socks. Must be above ankles.

Girls

P.E. Uniforms:

P.E. uniforms are purchased in the school office. The form will be mailed in July and also available in the school office. Please complete the form and submit to the school office with a check attached.

  • Navy blue P.E. t-shirts - purchased through the school.
  • Long navy blue athletic shorts from Flynn O'Hara. Item #403024 Logo Required.
  • Navy blue or black sweatpants for cold weather.
  • Athletic shoes. Securely fastened. No slip-ons.
